Questions writers actually ask
Before you let any tool near your manuscript, you should know exactly what it does with your words. These are the honest answers. If something isn't here, get in touch.
Privacy & your data
Yes. To delete your account, contact us at hello@mymuse.studio. When we process your request, your manuscript content and all data derived from it are removed from our systems. We will process your request promptly. Some data may be retained for the period required by law or legitimate business operations (such as billing records), after which it is deleted.
Your manuscript is processed by the trusted third-party AI and cloud providers that power MyMuse.Studio. These providers process your data solely to deliver the service — they do not use your manuscript to train AI models, and they do not share it with other customers. The MyMuse.Studio team may access content for technical support or safety purposes. No one else can see your manuscript.
No. MyMuse.Studio does not use your manuscript to train any AI. Here is exactly what happens with your text: when you ask a muse a question, your relevant manuscript passages are sent to our trusted AI providers, which generate the muse's response. Your manuscript is also stored in a way that lets your muses search and read it instantly — that stored data is used only to retrieve relevant context for your conversations and nothing else. Your manuscript stays yours.
AI philosophy
No — and this is by design. MyMuse.Studio operates on a single non-negotiable principle: your muses never generate prose that replaces your own words. They will give you feedback on your writing, help you think through a plot knot, develop a character's arc, or explore your story world with you. But they will never hand you a paragraph to drop into your manuscript. The writing stays yours. Your voice, your choices, your story — your muses are there to help you find them, not to substitute for them.
When you import a manuscript into MyMuse.Studio, it is stored securely so your muses can search and read it instantly. When you open a conversation, the passages most relevant to your question are retrieved and given to your muse as context. This means your muse is always working from your actual words — not from a summary or a generic prompt. The more manuscript you have, the more your muse has to work with.
Each muse brings a specific area of expertise to your manuscript. Calliope can give you line-level feedback on your prose style. Clio can help you examine your plot structure and pacing. Erato can dig into your characters' motivations and voices. Polyhymnia can help you build out your story world's rules and details. The package muses — Melpomene (Beta Reader), Thalia (Developmental Editor), Euterpe (Self-Publishing), and Urania (Agent Submission) — bring specialist perspectives for later stages of the writing process. You can also use your muses to help prepare submission materials for agents or publishers, or to navigate self-publishing. Every conversation is grounded in your actual manuscript, not generic writing advice.
Billing & obols
Muse packages are one-time purchases that permanently unlock a specialist muse, plus a bonus obol grant to get you started. The Beta Reader Pack unlocks Melpomene (+30 obols, $7.99). The Developmental Editor Pack unlocks Thalia (+30 obols, $7.99). The Publishing Pack unlocks both Euterpe and Urania (+100 obols, $13.99). Package muses remain in your account permanently — there is no ongoing charge. You can buy muse packages on any subscription tier.
Paid subscription obols (Pro and Premium) roll over from one billing period to the next, so a lighter writing month is never wasted. Free-tier obols reset at the start of each month and do not roll over. One-time top-ups and bonus obols from muse packages do not expire and carry forward indefinitely. If you are on a subscription and buy a top-up, the top-up obols are spent last (your monthly grant is used first).
Free gives you 25 welcome obols plus 5 obols each month — enough to try MyMuse.Studio and have occasional conversations with Calliope and Clio. Pro ($9.99/month) gives you 120 obols per month and adds the Erato and Polyhymnia muses — enough for regular active writing sessions. Premium ($19.99/month) doubles the allowance to 240 obols per month with all Pro muses — for writers who work intensively. You can also buy one-time top-ups (50 or 100 obols) without changing your plan, or unlock specialist muse packages permanently. Even on the free tier you get obols to use all of the platform's core capabilities.
An obol is a conversation credit. One back-and-forth with a muse typically costs 1–3 obols — roughly 25 obols gives you about 25 chat turns or one full manuscript report. Your obol balance is always visible before you start a conversation, so there are no surprises. Obols are the unit we use to make the underlying AI costs transparent and predictable — you just see your balance and what an activity roughly costs.
